Beatrix Eddings Obituary

Beatrix Marie Eddings passed away on September 11 following a lengthy and grueling decline due to dementia. She was born on January 5, 1942 to parents James and Beatrix Spachman and was raised with her beloved older brother Jim. Bea attended nursing school and became a flight attendant at a time when one needed to be single, attractive and a nurse in order to care for the traveling public.

She moved to California and married Lee Critton with whom she had two daughters and numerous pets she raised in Rolling Hills Estates on the “Critton farm”. Beatrix found love a second time with Ron Eddings to whom she was married for over twenty years. They resided in Palos Verdes. Bea was a life long nurse, working in the recovery room at Little Company of Mary for many years before transitioning to becoming a hospice nurse with Providence Trinity Care Hospice. She was passionate about this work and was referred to by many patients' families as an angel.

Bea will be remembered for her warm, caring and generous spirit and her gorgeous smile. She was beautiful inside and out and cultivated elegance and loveliness in her surroundings. She loved her family above all else and was happiest celebrating holidays and special moments with family and friends. Bea was a talented chef and gracious hostess. Her lavish dinners and phenomenal baking were a source of delight and will be missed.

She is survived by her husband Ron, her brother Jim Spachman, her children Traci Mastandrea and Lisa Sutton, her son in laws John Mastandrea and Scott Sutton, her step children, Lee Eddings and Bill Eddings, and her grandchildren Trey and Lindsay Mastandrea.

Her memorial service will be held at St John Fisher on Friday, September 22 at 1PM. Her final resting place will be in the columbarium at St John Fisher. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to Providence Trinity Care Hospice.
